“Opera Civica (TN),” civic work: that is to say, a work conceived and realized by artists belonging to the local community, in collaboration with a cultural institution operating on the territory and aiming at an active dialogue with that community. Opera Civica is a project that, in the wake of similar projects started in Trentino, aims at introducing art into the social and productive context of the territory, a project that may be able to give concrete form to the idea and practice of a gallery that is truly “civic,” a platform that gets out of the “museum” and ends up coexisting with that fluid network of ever-developing relations the institution is part of, in order to produce a shared reflection on the role that artists and institutions may play within such system.
